February 22 at 1:23am · Khou Moua I am finishing up the Adult Beginner's Sewing class that Ruth offers at CPCC. The atmosphere is very laid-back and it is fun. Ruth adjusts her time to each student personally, depending on their needs and skill level. What I like best about Ruth's teaching style is that she shares with you the best and easiest techniques and skills that she has come across in her forty years of experience. February 22 at 1:26am ·

Fri, Apr 22, 2011 8:02 pm Ruth, Please feel free to publish or otherwise use my following words for your company:  Your sewing classes are wonderful! Yes, I had the machine, the books, and the Internet videos, but it doesn’t compare to your patient teaching. You taught us tips that are invaluable, and it was fabulous to have someone there to answer our individual questions.

Please tell your future students to ask you before they buy a sewing machine/computerized machine. As you know, we all fought with our “new machines bought at a deal,” and two thirds of us bought your suggestions halfway through the class. Thank you for your sweet words as I cried ready to throw my “new machine” out the window. I realize that it wasn’t me who was stupid . . . it was a low-quality product. Ruth, I hope that you and your family have a blessed Easter. Fran Scarborough  from Facebook Ruth Sewing Room Wed, Mar 16, 2011 3:39 pm Hi Ruth.

I hightailed it out to AAA Sewing after class and met Peggy. She showed me the different machines--both mechanical and the computerized. I ended up buying a computerized DC 1050 for $300. It sews like a dream...I can actually sew straight lines with this machine! While this is a big expense for me right now, I know that this is a machine that I can use for a good amount of time and be happy with. A good machine really does make a difference and I feel a lot more confident.

I think that this is a new model...hopefully there won't be any issues. Do you know anything about this model?

Maybe the other lady in the class (Fran?) would be interested in this machine too.

See ya next week.

Christy Olsen Hi Ruth!  Great pictures from your vacation!!!! I wanted to thank you for your patience and time with me when I took your sewing class, because it has helped me in so many ways. I love to sew! A friend has asked me to sew some curtains for her kitchen and I had so much fun helping another friend sew the nun costumes for The Sound of Music production at the Old Courthouse Theater in Concord!! I don’t have any projects going on right now, but I was wondering if you were still offering the Easy Business Card Holder pattern? Thanks for the updates!!!!! Happy Sewing!  Christina 02/26/2009

Ruth is an Excellent Instructor‎ - Kimberley‎ - Feb 26, 2009 I am taking my very first sewing class and I have to say that the quality of the class and the instructor is top rated. I never thought I would be able to put in a zipper, make a ruffle and operate a sewing machine in just a few weeks. I look forward to my class every week and I am always amazed how the time goes by so quickly but that happens when you are having fun! Ruth is very patient and the way she explains different sewing techniques makes you want to learn more! I would recommend her to anyone who wants to sew like a pro one day! It is definitely worth taking her class if you want to learn to sew clothes or do home decor. I hope she offers more classes in the future. There is always something new to learn and she makes sewing fun. View Larger Map"> From Google map

Mar 31, 2009 by Guest79284: My daughter has taken classes with Ruth for 2 years and loves it so much! Ruth is so patient and her teaching is completely tailored for each individual student. My daughter can take almost any pattern and sew with confidence!

I started taking sewing lessons with Ruth Grey-Respert late January and I cannot believe how much I have learned.  Not only have I learned to use my sewing machine but Ruth also helped me to gain confidence to finally pull my serger out the box after being terrified of it!  LOL Anyone who has seen a serger knows that they can be intimidating at first glance not to mention to learn how to thread it.  I brought my serger into class and she helped me thread it and then had me thread the upper and lower loopers and needles from start to finish so that I could thread it when I was at home. She always takes the time for her students when they have questions.  No question or suggestion is ever turned away! Now since I have been my serger quite a bit, I absolutely love it!

Anyone who wants to learn how to sew like a professional, whether it is crafts, clothing or home decor, she is an excellent teacher for anything that gets your creative juices flowing.  My goal was to learn how to make baby clothing, pillows and eventually work with Lycra for skating dresses and other costumes.  I am finally at the point where I am almost ready to work with 4 way stretch materials.  I know that I would not have learned as quickly and learned good sewing techniques without such a fabulous teacher.

The art of sewing is an invaluable gift that I am learning and although I have a lot more to learn, I know that one day that I will be able to make anything I want.   5 stars for Ruth!!"
